This Privacy Policy applies to any website, feature, application, widget or online service that is owned or controlled by Queen’s University Utah (“Queen’s University Utah”) and that posts a link to this Privacy Policy (“Site”). This Privacy Policy only covers information collected at the Site and does not cover any information collected at any other website (unless specifically stated). This Privacy Policy describes Queen’s University Utah’s information collection practices at the Site, such as the types of information Queen’s University Utah collects regarding visitors to the Site and how we may use that information.
PLEASE READ THIS PRIVACY POLICY CAREFULLY. By using the website, you give your consent to data practices and understand that all personally identifiable information that you submit may be processed by Queen’s University Utah in the manner and for the purposes described herein. If you do not agree to the terms and conditions set forth herein, do not use the website.
Information We Collect Through the Site
As part of the application process to our Programs, and at other times, Queen’s University Utah may ask you to provide “Personal Information” (i.e., information that identifies you as a specific individual, such as your name, telephone number, mailing address, or email address), and other information about you, such as demographic information (e.g., your age, gender, race and ethnicity, or similar information), education and work history, payment information, or certain information about your preferences and interests. If we combine these types of other information about you with Personal Information, we will treat the combined information as Personal Information under this Privacy Policy.
Note: This is a general audience website and is intended for users age 18 or older. The Site is not intended for children and the Site does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If Queen’s University Utah discovers that it has inadvertently collected personal information from anyone younger than the age of 18, it will delete that information from its active databases.
User Profile, Community Forums, and User Content
If you enroll in one of our Programs, you may be required to create a public “Profile” as part of your participation in the Program. Your Profile may be auto-populated based on information you provide during the application process. Your Profile includes both Personal Information (such as your name, email address, and mailing address) and demographic information (such as your education and work histories). You may choose to supplement your Profile to include additional information about you, including a photograph. The information in your Profile will not be visible to the general public, but it will be visible to other students, instructors, and administrators of the Site and the Queen’s University Utah Program in which you enrolled.
The Site may provide you the opportunity to participate and post content in forums, through interactive features and through other communication functionality (collectively the “Community Forums“). You may choose, through such features or otherwise, to submit or post text, photographs, videos, questions, comments, suggestions or other content (collectively, “User Content“). Your postings in a Community Forum may be viewable only to others participating in a Program, to a specific Program group or the general public. Please note that others will have access to your Profile and User Content and may use that information or share it with third parties. We are not responsible for the actions of third parties and the use of your information and other User Content by such third parties is not subject to the protections of this Privacy Policy.
Information from Third Parties
We may receive information about you from third parties. For example, if you are on another website and you elect to receive information from Queen’s University Utah, that website will forward your contact and other information to us so that we may contact you as requested. We will also receive and share information with third parties who jointly provide a Program and as described below. We also may supplement the information we collect with outside records from third parties in order to provide you with information, services or goods you have requested, to enhance our ability to serve you, to tailor our content to you and to offer you opportunities to purchase products or services that we believe may be of interest to you. We may combine the information we receive from those other sources with information we collect through the Site. In those cases, we will apply this Privacy Policy to the combined information.
Automatically Collected Information
In addition to any Personal Information or other information that you choose to submit to the Site, we and our third-party service providers, including any third-party content, advertising, and analytics providers, may use a variety of technologies that automatically or passively collect certain information about your use of the Site whenever you visit or interact with the Site (“Usage Information”). Usage Information may include the browser and operating system you are using, the URL or advertisement that referred you to our Site, the search terms you entered into a search engine that led you to our Site (if applicable), all of the areas within our Site that you visit, and the time of day you visit the Site, among other information. Usage Information also includes the IP address or other unique identifier (“Device Identifier”) for any computer, mobile phone, or other device used to access the Site. A Device Identifier is a number that is automatically assigned to your device and our servers identify your device by its Device Identifier. Some mobile service providers may also provide us or our third-party service providers with information regarding the physical location of the device used to access a Site. We may use Usage Information for a variety of purposes, including enhancing or otherwise improving the Site and our products and services. The Usage Information we collect is generally non-identifying, but if we associate it with you as a specific and identifiable person, we treat it as Personal Information.
Cookies
A cookie is a data file placed on a device when it is used to visit a Site or otherwise access our online content. Cookies may be used for many purposes, including, without limitation, remembering you and your preferences, tracking your visits to our web pages, and for displaying offers related to your prior activity on the Site. A Flash cookie is a data file placed on a device via the Adobe Flash plug-in that may be built into or downloaded by you onto your device.
Web Beacons
Small graphic images or other web programming code called web beacons (also known as “1×1 GIFs” or “clear GIFs”) may be included in our web pages and email messages. Web beacons may be invisible to you, but any electronic image or other web programming code inserted into a web page or email can act as a web beacon. Web beacons or similar technologies may be used for a number of purposes, including, without limitation, to count visitors to the Site, to monitor how users navigate the Site, to count how many emails that were sent were actually opened or to count how many particular links were actually viewed.
Embedded Scripts
An embedded script is programming code that is designed to collect information about your interactions with the Site, such as the links you click on. The code is temporarily downloaded onto your device from our web server or a third-party service provider, is active only while you are connected to the Site, and is deactivated or deleted thereafter. In addition, we may use a variety of other technologies that collect similar information for security and fraud detection purposes.
How we respond to 'Do Not Track' signals
Please note that your browser settings may allow you to automatically transmit a “Do Not Track” signal to websites and online services that you visit. There is no consensus among industry participants as to what “Do Not Track” means in this context. Like many websites and online services, Queen’s University Utah does not alter its practices when it receives a “Do Not Track” signal from a visitor’s browser.
Social Features
Functionality on the Site may permit interactions that you initiate between the Site and a third-party website or service (“Social Features”), such as the ability to Tweet directly from your user dashboard on the Site. If you choose to post information through the Site to a third-party website or service, that information may be publicly displayed. Similarly, if you post information on a third-party platform that references Queen’s University Utah or a Queen’s University Utah service (e.g., by using a Twitter hashtag associated with Queen’s University Utah in your Tweet), your post may be published on our Site in accordance with terms of that third party. The information we collect in connection with Social Features is subject to this Privacy Policy. The information collected and stored by the third party remains subject to the third party’s privacy practices, including your choices with regard to what is visible to others on that third-party service.
How we use the information collected
Queen’s University Utah may use information collected through the Site, including your Personal Information and Usage Information, for a variety of purposes. We may use it to evaluate your application and allow you to participate in our Programs and to provide related customer service. This information helps us tailor content, recommendations, and offers that we display to you on the Site and elsewhere online. We may use it to process any transactions you initiate, and to provide you with information, products, or services that you have requested or agreed to receive—or that we believe may interest you.
Additionally, we may use your information to send you special offers from us or from third-party business partners. Your registration with the Site, including verifying that your email address is active and valid, may also require the use of this information. The data collected may be used to improve the Site, our products, and services, and for internal business purposes, as well as to conduct academic research, either independently or in collaboration with other parties.
We may contact you regarding your use of the Site and, at our discretion, about changes to Site policies. Finally, we may use your information for the purposes disclosed at the time you provide it, with your consent, and as further described in this Privacy Policy.
How and when we disclose information to third parties
Queen’s University Utah may share non-personal information, such as Usage Information and aggregated user statistics, with third parties at our discretion. There are also times when we may share personal information with third parties for their own direct marketing purposes, as described below. California residents should refer to the section on California Privacy Rights for additional details. In addition to those specific cases, we may share the information we collect about you, including Personal Information, as disclosed at the time you provide your information, with your consent, as described in this Privacy Policy, or in any of the following scenarios.
Some Programs are offered in conjunction with a third party, such as University of the Pacific or other educational institutions. We may receive information from such third-party Program providers or share information with them. We may also share Personal Information with third-party researchers conducting collaborative or independent academic research. Additionally, we may share your information with education-related third-party companies who may want to use it for marketing purposes. Once shared, we no longer have control over how those third parties use the data.
We may use third-party service providers to carry out certain services on behalf of the Site. These services may include website hosting, usage analytics, email or communication delivery, marketing assistance, customer service, data processing, and administrative support. In these instances, we may provide service providers with access to your Personal Information so they can perform these tasks for us or for you.
We may also disclose user information, including Personal Information, when required to respond to legal processes such as subpoenas or where we believe disclosure is required by law. We may share information with government authorities conducting investigations or when necessary to enforce our policies or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Queen’s University Utah, our users, or others. Device Identifiers may also be used in cooperation with third parties, including copyright holders or law enforcement, to identify users.
If there is a business transfer, including a merger, consolidation, restructuring, or the sale of some or all of our assets or ownership interests, we may disclose or transfer your information, including Personal Information, to the new owner or operator of the Site or as part of due diligence processes. Additionally, if Queen’s University Utah establishes a parent, subsidiary, or affiliated entity, we may share your information with that entity.
Employment Applications
If you apply for employment through the Site, Queen’s University Utah or a third-party service provider may request self-identifying information such as your gender, ethnicity, or veteran status, in accordance with federal, state, or local regulations enforced by bodies such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). Although providing such information is voluntary, if submitted, it may be reported to appropriate government agencies to meet compliance requirements or be used to defend against employment-related claims.
Testimonials
We may display personal testimonials of satisfied students or clients on our Site. With your permission, we may include your testimonial along with your name and other identifying details.
Third-party analytics providers, Ad servers and similar third parties
Queen’s University Utah may work with network advertisers, advertising agencies, analytics providers, and other service vendors to help analyze traffic on the Site, understand user behavior, serve advertisements on other platforms, and evaluate the effectiveness of our campaigns. For instance, if you click on an advertisement for Queen’s University Utah, our partners may tell us which advertisement you clicked and where it was displayed. These third parties may collect information about your use of the Site and other online services and use this data to serve ads tailored to your interests.
These vendors may place cookies, web beacons, or other tracking technologies on your device and may have access to certain types of data, including Personal Information collected over time and across different websites. Cookies and similar technologies may be used to limit the number of times you see an ad, analyze the performance of advertising, or deliver content based on your preferences. Some of these third-party providers participate in self-regulatory advertising programs like the Network Advertising Initiative (NAI) or the Digital Advertising Alliance (DAA). Please be aware that even if you opt out through these programs, you may still see ads—they just may not be tailored to your behavior. Opting out does not remove you from receiving advertising altogether.
Age Consent
By using this Site, you affirm that you are at least the age of majority in your state, province, or country of residence. If you are not the age of majority, you confirm that you are using the Site with the permission and supervision of a parent or guardian, and that they consent to your use of the Site.

The Site may offer pages or features that allow you to update or correct certain Personal Information submitted during registration or application. If you receive newsletters or marketing emails from us and no longer wish to, you may opt out by clicking the unsubscribe link provided in such communications. However, we reserve the right to send you non-promotional communications related to your account, program enrollment, changes to this Privacy Policy, or other important service-related messages.
It is your responsibility to ensure your contact details and personal data remain accurate and current. You can update information via any online profile feature or by contacting us at support@uqueens.org. We will make good-faith efforts to apply your updates promptly within our active systems. However, please note that we may retain residual data in our archives or backup systems, and information posted publicly—such as in forums—may not be removable.

The Site may also contain links to third-party websites or services that are not under the control of Queen’s University Utah. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of such third-party platforms, and users should consult those sites’ policies directly.

If you are located in another country, please be aware that any information you provide will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States. By using the Site or submitting your data, you consent to this transfer. U.S. data privacy laws may not provide the same level of protection as those in your home country.

Queen’s University Utah reserves the right to modify this Privacy Policy at any time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by posting the updated version on the Site and may also alert you through other channels based on the contact information you have provided. Unless otherwise stated, the updated Privacy Policy becomes effective immediately upon posting. Your continued use of the Site following such notice constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. We will not materially change how we use your previously collected Personal Information without first obtaining your consent.
